Lent
This Lent, the Wagga Diocese is preparing for the Year of Grace, set by the Australian Bishops to begin Pentecost 2012 and to continue until Pentecost 2013. It is hoped that this event and the spirit of faith and obedience in which it is undertaken will bring an increase in grace to the life of the Church as we also prepare to celebrate internationally the Year of Faith and the 50th Anniversary of the inaugration of the Second Vatican Council. As the Diocesan Coordinator for the Year of Grace, I would like to introduce for St Patrick’s this Lent a resource which has been specifically prepared for the Year of Grace and Faith. “Living a Life in Grace” has been written with an awareness of how Lenten programs are often used within the Church in Australia. The structure of prayers, inspirational quotes from various sources, Gospel readings for the Sundays of Lent, reflections and discussion questions has been maintained. However, this program goes a step further and also seeks to provide an accessible catechesis around grace and conversion. The Lenten Program is of significant value from many different angles: for those preparing for the sacraments of Baptism/Marriage, for those seeking to reflect more deeply on the Word of God (should be all of us!), those seeking more catechesis in the Faith, etc. I would also like to see at least two more Lenten groups spring up this year and invite volunteers to offer to host or lead (eg. Youth, family group, etc – call or speak to one of the priests). Those groups who are ready should be able to being in the week of Ash Wednesday. The books will have arrived by that time. Groups are best arranged by personal invitation. However, there is also a clipboard in the Church entrance to help give an idea of numbers etc.

St Valentine’s Day Mass
An extra Mass will be held at St Patrick’s Church on Tuesday 14th February at 6.00pm to celebrate St Valentine’s Day. A special invitation is extended to all those couples preparing for Marriage.
